The most exclusive expression of the Merseguera
Cuesta de Reig is born from a selection of the most distinctive historic Merseguera vineyards belonging to Bodegas Alejandro. Very old vines, cultivated in the traditional bush vine system on the calcareous and stony soils of Alicante, form the basis of a unique interpretation of this variety.
The harvest is done manually, with a rigorous selection of the bunches to preserve the quality of the grapes and select only those that meet the necessary conditions of maturity, balance and complexity.
The result is a limited production wine, designed to express the most elegant dimension of the Merseguera and the character of its origin.
Time as an expression of elegance
The winemaking process begins with careful preparation of the grapes and alcoholic fermentation in French oak barrels, using native yeasts. This process is designed to preserve the varietal identity and promote a balanced integration of the aging process.
After fermentation, Cuesta de Reig spends 18 months in French oak barrels on its fine lees, with regular bâtonnage stirring that helps develop its texture and complexity. It then rests for another 18 months in the bottle, completing a slow evolution that adds harmony and depth.
A 36-month aging process between barrel and bottle, designed to respect the personality of the Merseguera and achieve an elegant, structured and enveloping expression.
View: Golden yellow.
Nose: Elegant and complex, with notes of stone fruit and ripe citrus, accompanied by delicate spicy nuances and dried fruit.
Mouth: Structured, elegant, and enveloping, with a fine texture, integrated wood, and a balance that provides depth and harmony. The finish is long and lingering.
An exceptional edition
Cuesta de Reig represents a particularly selective interpretation of the Merseguera grape from Bodegas Alejandro. This limited-production wine comes from very old vines and a rigorous selection of grapes, reserved for those vintages that meet the necessary conditions to preserve the exceptional character of this edition.
The combination of historic vineyards, bush vine training, barrel fermentation, and 36 months of extended aging defines a wine deeply connected to its origin. A white wine conceived to express the complexity of the variety with precision, elegance, and balance.
Ideal for baked fish, shellfish, seafood rice dishes, white meats, and medium-intensity cheeses. Its structure and complexity also make it suitable for accompanying more elaborate dishes and can be enjoyed slowly, appreciating its evolution in the glass. It is recommended to serve it between 10 and 12 °C.
